A Sacrifice of Praise presents four Genevan psalm tunes (97 [overture], 116, 51, 98/118) intimately interwoven in new settings for accompanied chorus, soloists, and congregation. (English versifications by Helen Otte, Stanley Wiersma, and Erik Routley.) The four movements by turns exult in, adore, implore, and (forgive us, John) dance before God. Jointly commissioned by Princeton Theological Seminary, Nassau Presbyterian Church, and Witherspoon Presbyterian Church for “Calvin, Worship and Music: Glad Surprises for the Church Today” celebrating the 500th anniversary of John Calvin’s birth.
